Sorry Folks But Michael Jackson Really Wasn't That Great

I know this is heresy, blasphemy to the gods of the publicity industrial complex who created and destroyed the later Michael Jackson.
But I’ve let a day pass since his awful death before saying this: after the completely wonderful Jackson Five era, Michael Jackson was no longer a very interesting singer, not after he left the collaborative genius of the J-5. He became known for his dancing (wow, the moonwalk, really memorable!), for his stupid costumes (what was with the whole militaristic thing? And was the glove really all that interesting or distinctive in any way?), for one or two good songs (”Human Nature” or whatever it was officially called) and “Thriller” wasn’t one of them. Come on, do you really think that novelty concoction is worth another listen ever? (Okay I liked “Billy Jean” even though I still misremember the key lyric as “the chair is not my love”)
Then after the success of his solo comeback, fueled by nostalgia and moonwalking eccentricity, he became known for being a celebrity, famous for being famous, then famous for his eccentricities. Eccentricities that were at first harmless (Bubbles the chimp, etc.), then famous for being weird (”Neverland” the boy-pals), famous for his grotesque plastic surgeries, then famous for being an accused child-molester, acquitted of criminal charges but never able to quit the children. Then he became famous for his famous associations–buying the Beatles catalog and doing that hideously sappy “The Girl is Mine”* with Paul McCartney,”marrying” Lisa Marie Presley, etc. Famous for his famously annoying sisters. Famous for anointing himself “King of Pop” when he no longer could produce a decent pop song. And yet the idiot pop media went along with it, He was the King of Trainwreck Celebrity.
But as for his music? Can you name a single post-”Thriller” song he did?
Sorry. He and the Jackson Five created something magical. “I’ll Be There” is an immortal love song, sublimely beautiful in its simplicity. I’ll remember him with gratitude for that and the rest of the J-5 hits, and try to forget the trainwreck he became.
But in the “moronic inferno” (h/t Martin Amis) of the media “mourning” let’s not forget the real tragedy, that he long ago ceased being a talent and gave in to being a mere celebrity, the sure road to ruin.

A Few Thoughts On MIchael Jackson

Generally speaking, I’m a believer in the rule that we should not speak ill of the dead. Or at least we should wait a decent interval before doing so (if we never spoke ill of the dead, history would be meaningless). But, I must say I find the media’s instinctive rush to sanctify Michael Jackson disgusting. Look, I understand that Michael Jackson was an “icon.” I understand that some people loved his work and that many people who never met him believed they loved the man too. But I didn't, and I’m hardly alone. If Michael Jackson were just another famous person, I’d probably stay silent and let the pro forma celebration of his memory roll by without comment. (For instance, I have no problem whatsoever with the media taking a moment to pay respects to Farah Fawcett). Sure, I liked the Jackson Five. I liked “Thriller,” too, when I was a teenager. Michael Jackson was an “icon” for me too. But let’s pause for a moment on that word “icon.” It seemed the consensus adjective for the news networks. NBC ran a special on two “American Icons” — Fawcett and Jackson. Every cable network (including Fox, for the record) used the word “icon” to describe him as if this was some sort of safe harbor, a word everyone could agree on. “Love him or hate him,” the implied logic went, “he was an ‘icon.’”Yes, well, maybe so. But that doesn’t let you off the hook. Even though the term sounds neutral, it isn’t. An icon, technically speaking, is a religious symbol deserving of reverence and adoration. The networks may not have intended to use the word that way, but they certainly showed an unseemly amount of reverence and adoration for the man. I think part of it is the narcissism of our celebrity culture. Here was a guy so many of “us” read about in People magazine for so long. His passing, therefore, isn’t a loss in the sorrowful sense of the word, but in the selfish one. It’s a loss of an interesting subject, a creature to gossip about and to fill a few minutes on E! or Entertainment Tonight. Everyone likes to invoke Lord Acton’s axiom that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” But nearly everyone forgets that he coined this phrase not to indict powerful men, but to instruct the historians who write about them. Historians tend to forgive the powerful their transgressions. Likewise, journalists (for want of a better word) tend to forgive the famous. Calling Michael Jackson an icon doesn’t let him off the hook for anything. But to listen to the news anchors you’d think it absolves him of everything.
I say: Who cares who his famous friends were? Who cares what a “fascinating” person he was? If you want to talk about his death as an end of an era, have at it. But that’s not what the Barbara Walters set is doing. I know that Michael Jackson wasn’t convicted of the despicable crimes he was accused of. And that’s why he never went to jail. Three cheers for the majesty of the American legal system. But in my own personal view, he wasn’t exonerated either. Nor was he absolved of his crimes because he could sing, moonwalk, or sell 10 million records. (Though many of us suspect the money and fame he made from those things is precisely what kept him out of jail). And, while I merely think he was a pedophile, I know he was not someone responsible parents should applaud, healthy children emulate, nor society celebrate. And while we’re at it, his relatively early death wasn’t “tragic.” He was one of the richest people in the world. He spent his money on perpetual childhood and he was perpetually with children not his own. Meanwhile, in the last ten days, we’ve seen or heard of remarkable people who’ve given their lives for freedom in Iran. We’ve heard of innocents killed because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the last decade, America has lost thousands of heroes in noble causes and thousands of innocent bystanders who were denied the simple joys of life through no fault of their own. Those deaths are tragic, and we're hard pressed to think of more than a handful of names to put with the long line of the dead.
If anything, Michael Jackson’s life, not his death, was tragic. Every year at the Oscars they show a montage of people who died over the previous year. Invariably, the audience only applauds for the really famous people. This has always offended me. Not necessarily because the famous people don’t deserve praise but because it’s so clear that the audience is clapping for the fame. Michael Jackson had many accomplishments. But the press is sanctifying him because he was famous, deservedly so to be sure, but not because he was good. So much of the coverage seems to miss this fundamental point, as if being famous made him good. I feel sympathy for Jackson’s family and friends who understandably mourn him. But I can't bring myself to mourn him any more than I mourn the random dead I read about in the paper everyday. Indeed, I confess to mourning him less. Every channel says this is a sad day for America. I agree. But not for the same reasons.

Obama Defeats Fly

While protestors against the totalitarian regime in Iran are getting shot and beaten in the streets of Tehran, Mr. Hope and Change, Barack Hussein Obama, continues to vote present with his “nuanced” (read panty-waist) response. Imagine the conversation going on in Jeremiah Wright’s former parishioner’s head: “on the one hand, it’s a brutal dictatorship that promotes terrorism all over the world. On the other hand, America has no right to interfere, given our racist, imperialistic history, and our interference in Iran’s domestic leadership in 1953.” Once again, B. Hussein, votes present, and his apparatchiks in the politburo media justify it with reference to the afore-mentioned events in 1953, leaving most of his supporters extremely confused. “How could America get involved in Iran in 1953 when that’s when the American Civil War was going on?” they ask as they scratch their empty heads. He Who Walks on Water saved his ire for a a more worthy adversary, to the collective swoons, oohs and aahs of the propagandists in our version of Pravda over his “amazing athleticism.” We haven’t seen reporting like this since Kim Jong Il’s first golf game. Take that, you vicious, dangerous fly! I’m gonna get you, Sucka! No doubt the poor hapless insect was attracted by the reeking stench coming from the lies that issue with such ease and regularity from Barry’s mendacious mouth.Meanwhile here at home, the Lame Stream Media continues their approach to “objective reporting” about Barack and Michelle Obama, which means pretending that normal Americans consider them objects of worship and endless fascination rather than a couple of narcissistic beneficiaries of affirmative action who alternately bore and enrage us with their ostentatious displays of taxpayer-funded amusements. In the latest foray into “hard news,” as in fluffy feature stories promoting their already overpackaged images, they want us to believe that we are looking to them to help us get our fat, flabby bodies in shape. In Michelle’s case--how can I say this delicately?--no matter how many stories they write about her “buff arms,” I can’t help but notice that there’s a reason she is rarely photographed from the waist down, particularly from behind, so I’m not looking for her “perfect body” diet any time soon. As for Barry, I assumed that all supernatural beings were possessed of perfect physical bodies. Or it could be the cigarettes.

Obama's Poll Numbers Go South

Despite the relentless media hype, deliberate suppression of negative information, and industrial-scale brainwashing to make us subconsciously feel it is "racist" to disapprove of anyone black, Chairman Zero's honeymoon has already ended, with his approval index going into negative territory after only a few months in office. From Rasmussen:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 33% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-four percent (34%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -1. Today is the second straight day the President's rating has been below zero (see trends).
However, Comrade Obama did manage to pull his numbers up from -2 yesterday. He must have gotten a bounce from the doting CBS scoop about him feeding his dog pumpkin-flavored ice cream while protestors die in Iran without even moral support.

Skateboarding Where Great Men Once Walked

How's this for emblematic:
Above you see 41-year-old adolescent Tony Hawk skateboarding in the White House.
According to Hawk, Comrade Obama apologized for the absence of skateboard ramps, a welcome change from Chairman Zero's usual apologizing for America's historic defense of liberty.
If we don't get adults back in charge immediately, Hawk isn't the only one due for a major wipeout.

Grab Your Ankles..Your Taxes Are Going Up! Hey Obama Voters Hows That Workin Out For Ya?

Remember when the Moonbat Messiah was promising repeatedly that he would cut taxes for 95% of Americans? Apparently, some actually believed him, and didn't have the decency to care what outrageous injustices were inflicted on the other 5%, who would be made to pay for BHO's extravagant socialist policies. But what goes around comes around. To the surprise of no one with an IQ above 80, Chairman Zero will be jacking taxes through the ceiling on all of us:
House Democrats have lots of potential targets for higher taxes as they aim to expand health care coverage to reach the roughly 50 million that experts say are uninsured.
Also under consideration are higher alcohol taxes, increases to the Medicare payroll tax and a value-added tax, a sort of national sales tax, of up to 1.5 percent or more.
A value-added tax would hit every American who buys or sells anything. Obama et al. are also thinking about a 10¢ per can tax on "sugary drinks," taxing employer-provided health insurance benefits, and of course, further looting "the rich," who need to have money to spend and invest if the economy is to recover.
If this sounds bad, wait until the cap and trade lunacy effectively results in massive energy taxes, which will also hurt each and every one of us, including the fools who voted this socialist regime into office.

The Wussy Liberals

or the sissification of the American Man by liberals. After watching Comrade Zero simper, pout, whine, and beg since the clown took over, and after watching the videos posted here over the last two days, this essay NEEDED to be written.
We are being led by women in men's clothing. This is not a slam on women, but on the weak-kneed, limp-noodle, gutless liberals who appease, kowtow, bow, and otherwise grease up and bend over for any criminal, tyrant, dictator, or thug. Once upon a time in America, men, REAL MEN, signed their own death warrants by putting their signature on the Declaration of Independence, and knew full well that if captured, they'd find themselves at the end of a rope, their families would be cast out of their homes, and the British would seize their property for the King. Once we had Congressmen like Davy Crockett who stated once: "You all can go to hell. I’m going to Texas!" Where he died at the Alamo, fighting for freedom. We had other politicians, who, for right or wrong, CANED another politician almost to the point of crippling him, for slandering the South. In other words, don't talk sh8t unless you can back it up, a far cry from the sissies we have now. Lawyers who talk and talk and talk and talk... When evil raised its ugly head in World War One, men went to war to crush it. In World War Two, men lined up to enlist. It's what men did. H*ll, we even had a President that shot rifles, went hunting, and loved to box! (Teddy Roosevelt) Indeed, many of us men grew up catching lizards and snakes, playing cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers, having BB gun fights, brawling, rough-housing, rock fights, dirt clod fights, fist fights, King of the Hill, playing mumblypeg (the Gunny has a nice scar on his left foot where a jackknife went in...thanks again Sean!), and fished, hunted, and worked on becoming a man, with the ability to MAN THE F**K UP when it was called for. ith the liberals in charge, it ain't like that anymore.
The liberals have taken over the education system and seek to emasculate boys when THEY play Cowboys and Indians, fight, rough-house, and in some schools, RUNNING around at recess is a no-no. Guess "Red Rover" is out because someone MIGHT GET HURT! Liberals teach that violence is baaaaaaaad. That criminals are to be treated with the milk of human kindness instead of giving them a stomp down, shooting the b*stards, or horror of horrors, actually executing the vermin for capital crimes! Eating meat...BAD. Just ask the PETA morons. "Go vegan" cry the skinnies! Vegan men whose arms hang out of their shirts like strings but hey, they have a low carbon footprint! A scumbag breaks into your house, jump out of the window, run to a neighbor's house, and call 911 and hope the cops get there in time. Schools recommend Ritalin for "over-active" boys effectively turning them into an emasculated zombie and parent comply! We can't be having any restlessness, overt curiosity, or aggressiveness, can we? Get caught poking at a red ant nest at recess? You're suspended.
Indeed, look at TV today and the message put out by liberals and make no mistake, liberals RUN the mainstream media. Just ask ABC NEWS, now called Pravda and broadcasting from the White Crib. Men are made fun of on TV. In commercials, they are hapless idiots unable to clean up after themselves. In TV shows, like the one with Charlie Sheen (the name escapes the Gunny who never watched it), he's a buffoon. The same with Jim Belushi's show. Of course with Sex in the City, women are movers and shakers and men simply tools. Maybe liberal men ARE nothing more than tools, useful idiots, and excess baggage for the nation to carry. Bush lands on a carrier and gets sneered at. Saint Goreacle deep throats his pig on national TV and is applauded. Bush flies to Iraq unknown, to serve turkey to the troops, and gets denigrated. Comrade Zero flies to Iraq with planeloads of reporters on set up meetings with the troops and this is great stuff. The word "cowboy" is a curse word for leftists to use on us and has been since Reagan. We on the right are knuckle-dragging, swaggering, cowboys, according to liberals and Euro half-men. The sissification of the Eurotrash is definitely complete. German troops are too soft to go on patrol in Afghanistan. HAHA! Rommel is rolling over in his grave.
Since women got the vote, government has become more involved in our lives. Don't believe the Gunny, do the research. Men enjoy risk, women seek security and protection, it's the way we are wired but it seems that liberal men are more apt to be wired like their women, scared of risk, uncertainty, and danger and unable to overcome that fright. Just glance at what liberals espouse, i.e., cradle-to-grave welfare, cradle-to-grave health care, Social SUCKurity, and a hotline for the little girlylib men to call when they're scared and need reassurance, 800-MYOBAMA!
As for TV, witness the ad for Boyardee ravioli. The Dad reading the label that discusses more veggies in the mix and Mom beating on pots to shut him up. Why? Because junior won't EAT his veggies if he knew about it. SHEEEEEEEET! Growing up, the old man told you to clean your plate and you D*MN SURE DID or you sat there until you did. Not today. Can't hurt the little b8stard's self-esteem by snatching him up by the stacking swivel and reminding him who the F**K is running the show. The Gunny once stupidly lipped off to the old man, at age 13, and found himself jacked into a wall, hoisted up off of the ground, with two eyeballs burning a hole in him, reminding him who was the boss! Lesson learned.
Witness the worst show of the century, "Qu**r Eye For The Straight Guy". A group of mincing fagg0ts working to "turn" a man into a metrosexual! There can be no doubt that the chuckleheads on that show are liberal men because no self-respecting Conservative man would allow simpering h0m0s to change: his clothes, music, home décor and furnishings, etc. Men go for comfort, not fluff Brucie. We're slobs and we like our couches, recliners, worn-in clothes and shoes, and hammocks and that is the way things are. Then we get married, to a WOMAN, who TRY, emphasis on the word TRY, to civilize us by "changing" us. It rarely works but we like acting like MEN and secretly, conservative women (and lib women who won't admit it) like their men...acting like a man. That’s the natural order of things. Men talk about women, guns, politics, women, sports, women, hunting and fishing, women, and of course, power tools, and that is what men do. It's how WE are wired. And best of all, it's FUN! Libs must hate fun because they much veggies and polish their nails in keeping with their liberal metrosexualism! haha. Women own lapdogs and they seek to make their men lapdogs. Indeed, you just KNOW by looking that micHELLe Maobama runs that show. The Gunny would bet a big chunk of dough that Comrade Zero was never in a fight and indeed, was pounded on after he tried to talk, talk, talk, his way out of a jam. Not being able to defend yourself is stupid, not civilized. "Si vis pacem, para bellum" ("If you want peace, prepare for war!") Flavius Vegetius Renatus
What do liberal politicians do first? Why pass legislation to keep us from: fishing, hunting, smoking, pinching the secretary's butt, riding our Harley without a helmet (OH THE HUMANITY!), fighting over women (a male past time going back 10,000 years!), shooting scumbag who, as we say in the South, "needed killing," and outright raising a little h*ll. The Gunny will take someone like Reagan or Bush 41/43 over Comrade Zero, a mincing lightweight, or Saint Goreacle who had to HIRE a CONSULTANT to teach him how to act like a man! Haha. We won't even mention the highly nuanced Hanoi John Fonda Kerry! Don't forget, he served about 40 days in Vietnam and went on two or three patrols!
Men like it simple, uncluttered, uncomplicated, and straight-to-the-point and THAT is why we dig: John Wayne, Charlton Heston, Clint Eastwood, Robert Mitchum, Bogie, Bruce Willis, William Holden, etc. You mess with them, you're done, it's that simple. Jeff Cooper, a great pistolero and warrior stated once that the job of a real man is to: "to ride, shoot straight, and speak the truth." Unfortunately, liberal dipsticks like Comrade Zero FIRE people for speaking the truth, witness the firing of the guy at AmeriCorps, who exposed the corruption. Oops.
Liberals enjoy being victims, conservatives don't. Maybe that is the core of it. Conservatives shoot criminals while liberals try to understand them, sit down and talk with them, seeking to appease, and then BAM!, they get shot and robbed, beaten and raped, or all of the above with a slit throat to boot. The sissification of liberals began decades ago but they're pulling US into that vicious circle as well. Hitler once stated to adults in Germany that he could care less about what THEY thought, he had the kids and over time, they'd know nothing but what HE told them to think. Much in the same way, liberals are perverting the boys of America today. Liberals always expect others to take care of them IF they have unbridled loyalty to the system and to their party line. Maybe it's too late, who knows, but men, enjoy being a man. Enjoy being a Conservative. When your son comes home from school for fighting ask why and then DEFEND him against the school. Sometimes you HAVE to stick up for what you believe in, with nothing but a forecast of pain and suffering ahead. A fat lip is INFINATELY better than having the other kids in school call you a coward and here is where liberals get derailed. They stand for nothing and thus, fall for everything and NOTHING is a better example of that than Barry Soetoro getting played and punked around the world. Bush 43 is a cowboy and only the Eurogarbage, terrorists, and liberals did not like it! For all angles, it's better to BE a cowboy than a pretty little metrosexual like Barry, unable to fight his way out of a thick fog without mommy or micHELLe helping him. As far as the Gunny is concerned, the first family consists of four females and Barry is our first female potus! The sissification of American manhood continues with liberals but we must continue to fight that crap.

Another Thug Of The NFL

If your dad was killed by a drunk driver, would you ask a court to give the killer a lenient 30-day sentence in exchange for a huge cash pay-off?
I certainly wouldn't.
But the family of 59-year-old construction worker Mario Reyes did just that. They were paid off by Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth, and because of that, justice wasn't served. Stallworth--who should do years in prison for the killing--will serve only a 30-day sentence. And while he'll serve two years of house arrest after that, he will be playing for the Browns when the NFL football season starts at the end of this summer. The ridiculously lenient plea agreement allows him to do so.
NFL's Donte Stallworth Killed a Man Driving Drunk, Got 30 Days
It's really a disgusting display. But I don't just blame the family. I blame the justice system and the prosecutors who recommended this, merely because he paid the family off. And I blame the judge who went along with this absurd sentence.
Stallworth's "cooperation" in the matter--which they cite--is a euphemism for nothing. People get killed by drunk drivers all the time, and they do hard time. The fact that they admitted, hey, I agree with your tests that I had an alcohol level over the limit when I killed a man, doesn't save them from that.
Unless they are a rich ball player with the capacity to pay someone off.
The 28-year-old National Football League star's abbreviated jail term came because of his cooperation with investigators and the wishes of the victim's family.
Stallworth pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol in exchange for a lighter sentence. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail for the car crash that killed a pedestrian in Miami Beach.
The player had faced up to 15 years in jail for the death of 59-year-old construction worker Mario Reyes, who apparently was running across the street to catch a bus when the athlete hit him with his car March 14.
The average jail sentence for similar crimes in Florida is 10 years, but Stallworth reached a confidential financial settlement with Reyes' family.
What does this say for poor people who commit crimes and are unable to pay off their victims?
It says that, contrary to the trite adage, justice isn't blind in America. It's not blind at all. If you have the right dollar amounts in your bank account, you get a separate kind of "justice" applied to you.
But don't worry, Donte Stallworth will get away with murder, just like his NFL colleague, Ray Lewis, got away with taking part in the murder of three people.
Crime pays when you are a wealthy star athlete and your victims are humans and not dogs (a la Michael Vick).

ObamaCare

To quote the esteemed Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the chickens that were hatched in the stimulus package are coming home to roost in the healthcare proposal. The budget deficit Obama racked up paying for the massive federal spending passed in January is now having a real economic and political impact, which is forcing the president and his congressional allies into hard choices as they face his healthcare legislation.Of course, the prudent thing to do is postpone healthcare changes until the economy generates some revenues and trims the deficit. But the socialist in the White House can't do that. He's got to strike while his congressional majority is hot. So he is forcing his administration and his party to choose among unpalatable choices to finance his program. His demand may be a bridge too far, endangering his popularity with the American people.

First of all, the very fact of a focus on healthcare reform inevitably stirs discussion of the deficit. Americans are allergic to deficit spending and worry the more the deficit grows. As interest rates rise and the government finds it more and more difficult to borrow enough to cover Obama's massive spending, the economy is likely to show the negative effects. It is a matter of a few months, certainly no more, before voters start to realize that it is the deficit, not the pre-existing conditions Obama inherited, which is causing the prolongation of the recession. Already the jump in mortgage rates has slowed the refinancing, which was the only aspect of the Obama economic program that was working well. But the foreign and domestic focus on the deficit has a harsher political impact: It forces the Democrats to come up with money to fund healthcare reform. In other words, it makes them raise taxes. The Democratic Party is good at fooling itself that tax increases don't matter and are politically palatable, but they do and they are not.The massive spending healthcare will require dwarfs the capacity for the rich alone to pay the bill, no matter how confiscatory Obama chooses to become. Only broader taxes will do the job. Obama faces two practical choices: a value added tax or taxing health insurance benefits. The political harm either way will be enormous. Not only will Obama be breaking his pledge not to tax the middle class, but he will be doing so in a particularly pernicious way. If Obama opts for the value added tax (VAT), Democrats will hope to cloak the increase in the price of the product. They reason that the consumer won't know how much the tax is since it will be added on throughout the sale and resale of the product rather than at the cash register at the end, as the sales tax is. But it will work the other way. As inflation sets in, triggered by Obama's deficit spending, consumers will blame the whole thing on Obama. His VAT will be much magnified in the voters' minds to include all of the inflation going on. Just as voters blamed Clinton's gas tax increase of five cents in 1993 for the entire run-up in gasoline prices at the pump, so they will place all the blame for inflation on Obama's VAT.Or Obama could tax healthcare benefits, a direct reversal of his campaign pledge. He would be adopting a policy for which he overtly and loudly criticized McCain. And his popularity will wilt as taxpayers suddenly have to add onto their tax liability the money their employer has always paid for their health insurance. Obama will probably have his own separate line on the 1040 and even on the short form for his new tax. That's not the way to stay popular.Obama's only good option is not to move so quickly on healthcare reform, to give himself some wiggle room. But as the song says, "we're knee deep in the big muddy but the damn fool says to push on!"

Bush Finally Speaks Up!

Finally, after being pummelled for months, George W. Bush blasted Barack Obama for his socialist economic policies, overspending and weak national security decisions.Obama will quadruple the US budget deficit his first year in office. And, he wants to spend trillions more for his Obamacare program. The Washington Times reported, via Reboot Congress:
Former President George W. Bush fired a salvo at President Obama on Wednesday, asserting his administration's interrogation policies were within the law, declaring the private sector not government will fix the economy and rejecting the nationalization of health care. "I know it's going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we're in," the former president said to applause from members of a local business group. "You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money." Repeatedly in his hourlong speech and question-and-answer session, Mr. Bush said he would not directly criticize the new president, who has moved to take over financial institutions and several large corporations. Several times, however, he took direct aim at Obama policies as he defended his own during eight years in office. "Government does not create wealth. The major role for the government is to create an environment where people take risks to expand the job rate in the United States," he said to huge cheers. Look for President Thin-Skin to blame the current situation on Bush before noon today.
