"Good evening. I'm Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana.Tonight, we witnessed a great moment in the history of our Republic. In the very chamber where Congress once voted to abolish slavery, our first African-American President stepped forward to address the state of our union. With his speech tonight, the President completed a redemptive journey that took our nation from Independence Hall . to Gettysburg . to the lunch counter . and now, finally, the Oval Office. Regardless of party, all Americans are moved by the President's personal story -- the son of an American mother and a Kenyan father, who grew up to become leader of the free world. Like the President's father, my parents came to this country from a distant land. When they arrived in Baton Rouge, my mother was already 4 ½ months pregnant. I was what folks in the insurance industry now call a 'pre-existing condition.' To find work, my dad picked up the yellow pages and started calling local businesses. Even after landing a job, he could still not afford to pay for my delivery -- so he worked out an installment plan with the doctor. Fortunately for me, he never missed a payment. As I grew up, my mom and dad taught me the values that attracted them to this country -- and they instilled in me an immigrant's wonder at the greatness of America. As a child, I remember going to the grocery store with my dad. Growing up in India, he had seen extreme poverty. And as we walked through the aisles, looking at the endless variety on the shelves, he would tell me: 'Bobby, Americans can do anything.' I still believe that to this day. Americans can do anything. When we pull together, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.As the President made clear this evening, we are now in a time of challenge. Many of you listening tonight have lost jobs. Others have seen your college and retirement savings dwindle. Many of.......Let me tell you a story.During Katrina, I visited Sheriff Harry Lee, a Democrat and a good friend of mine. When I walked into his makeshift office I'd never seen him so angry. He was yelling into the phone: 'Well, I'm the Sheriff and if you don't like it you can come and arrest me!' I asked him: 'Sheriff, what's got you so mad?' He told me that he had put out a call for volunteers to come with their boats to rescue people who were trapped on their rooftops by the floodwaters. The boats were all lined up ready to go -- when some bureaucrat showed up and told them they couldn't go out on the water unless they had proof of insurance and registration. I told him, 'Sheriff, that's ridiculous.' And before I knew it, he was yelling into the phone: 'Congressman Jindal is here, and he says you can come and arrest him too!' Harry just told the boaters to ignore the bureaucrats and start rescuing people. There is a lesson in this experience: The strength of America is not found in our government. It is found in the compassionate hearts and enterprising spirit of our citizens. We are grateful for the support we have received from across the nation for the ongoing recovery efforts. This spirit got Louisiana through the hurricanes -- and this spirit will get our nation through the storms we face today.To solve our current problems, Washington must lead. But the way to lead is not to raise taxes and put more money and power in hands of Washington politicians. The way to lead is by empowering you -- the American people. Because we believe that Americans can do anything. That is why Republicans put forward plans to create jobs by lowering income tax rates for working families, cutting taxes for small businesses, strengthening incentives for businesses to invest in new equipment and hire new workers, and stabilizing home values by creating a new tax credit for home-buyers. These plans would cost less and create more jobs. But Democratic leaders in Congress rejected this approach. Instead of trusting us to make wise decisions with our own money, they passed the largest government spending bill in history -- with a price tag of more than $1 trillion with interest. While some of the projects in the bill make sense, their legislation is larded with wasteful spending. It includes $300 million to buy new cars for the government, $8 billion for high-speed rail projects, such as a 'magnetic levitation' line from Las Vegas to Disneyland, and $140 million for something called 'volcano monitoring.' Instead of monitoring volcanoes, what Congress should be monitoring is the eruption of spending in Washington, DC. Democratic leaders say their legislation will grow the economy. What it will do is grow the government, increase our taxes down the line and saddle future generations with debt. Who among us would ask our children for a loan, so we could spend money we do not have, on things we do not need? That is precisely what the Democrats in Congress just did. It's irresponsible. And it's no way to strengthen our economy, create jobs or build a prosperous future for our children. In Louisiana, we took a different approach. Since I became governor, we cut more than 250 earmarks from our state budget. And to create jobs for our citizens, we cut taxes six times -- including the largest income tax cut in the history of our state. We passed those tax cuts with bipartisan majorities. Republicans and Democrats put aside their differences, and worked together to make sure our people could keep more of what they earn. If it can be done in Baton Rouge, surely it can be done in Washington, DC.To strengthen our economy, we need urgent action to keep energy prices down. All of us remember what it felt like to pay $4 at the pump -- and unless we act now, those prices will return. To stop that from happening, we need to increase conservation, increase energy efficiency, increase the use of alternative and renewable fuels, increase our use of nuclear power, and increase drilling for oil and gas here at home. We believe that Americans can do anything -- and if we unleash the innovative spirit of our citizens, we can achieve energy independence.To strengthen our economy, we also need to address the crisis in health care. Republicans believe in a simple principle: No American should have to worry about losing their health coverage - period. We stand for universal access to affordable health care coverage. We oppose universal government-run health care. Health care decisions should be made by doctors and patients -- not by government bureaucrats. We believe Americans can do anything -- and if we put aside partisan politics and work together, we can make our system of private medicine affordable and accessible for every one of our citizens. To strengthen our economy, we also need to make sure every child in America gets the best possible education. After Katrina, we reinvented the New Orleans school system -- opening dozens of new charter schools, and creating a new scholarship program that is giving parents the chance to send their children to private or parochial schools of their choice. We believe that, with the proper education, the children of America can do anything. And it should not take a devastating storm to bring this kind of innovation to education in our country. To strengthen our economy, we must promote confidence in America by ensuring ours is the most ethical and transparent system in the world. In my home state, there used to be saying: At any given time, half of Louisiana is under water -- and the other half is under indictment. No one says that anymore. Last year, we passed some of the strongest ethics laws in the nation -- and today, Louisiana has turned her back on the corruption of the past. We need to bring transparency to Washington, DC -- so we can rid our Capitol of corruption and ensure we never see the passage of another trillion dollar spending bill that Congress has not even read and the American people haven't even seen.As we take these steps, we must remember for all our troubles at home, dangerous enemies still seek our destruction. Now is no time to dismantle the defenses that have protected this country for hundreds of years, or make deep cuts in funding for our troops. America's fighting men and women can do anything. And if we give them the resources they need, they will stay on the offensive, defeat our enemies and protect us from harm.In all these areas, Republicans want to work with President Obama. We appreciate his message of hope -- but sometimes it seems we look for hope in different places. Democratic leaders in Washington place their hope in the federal government. We place our hope in you -- the American people.In the end, it comes down to an honest and fundamental disagreement about the proper role of government. We oppose the National Democrats' view that says -- the way to strengthen our country is to increase dependence on government. We believe the way to strengthen our country is to restrain spending in Washington, and empower individuals and small businesses to grow our economy and create jobs. In recent years, these distinctions in philosophy became less clear -- because our party got away from its principles. You elected Republicans to champion limited government, fiscal discipline, and personal responsibility. Instead, Republicans went along with earmarks and big government spending in Washington. Republicans lost your trust -- and rightly so.Tonight, on behalf of our leaders in Congress and my fellow Republican governors, I say: Our party is determined to regain your trust. We will do so by standing up for the principles that we share -- the principles you elected us to fight for -- the principles that built this into the greatest, most prosperous country on earth. A few weeks ago, the President warned that our nation is facing a crisis that he said 'we may not be able to reverse.' Our troubles are real, to be sure. But don't let anyone tell you that we cannot recover -- or that America's best days are behind her. Let me tell you the real reason Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid pushed through the biggest spending bill in history — without proper debate, without Republican input, and without any public scrutiny at all.

Chicago Machine Takes Over Washington
You must remember — the media won't tell you this — that Barack Obama is a product of the corrupt political machine in Chicago headed by Mayor Richard Daley.
Chicago is run as a one-party city. The Democratic political machine and the government are one in the same.
Just like we saw recently in Congress, there is no real debate in Chicago. Deals are brokered in the back rooms among the ward leaders, the mayor and their cronies.
What the political machine decides, the public has to accept it. The city council serves simply as a rubber stamp — much the same way the Congress just acted for Obama.
And public money in Chicago is used to protect and serve the interests of the machine.
Obama — as I will reveal to you with the stimulus plan — is simply replicating the Chicago machine in Washington.
It is a frightening thought because our freedoms depend on a vibrant two-party system.
But that's what you believe, not what Obama and his crew believe.
Barack Obama and his Chicago gang, which includes his Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, also a congressman from the Chicago machine, have a starkly different view.
They want a one-party system headed by a strong man.

We just witnessed how the basic and open democratic process of our republic was flouted.
We fear that the actions by Obama and Congress that we just witnessed threaten the very foundation of our republic.

Yet Congress passed the largest spending bill in its history — by essentially suspending vital democratic processes, including debate and public examination of the pending law.
We know that the Democrats, working late into the night, secretly agreed to a “compromise” bill among themselves — and then refused even to share it with Republicans or the public until just hours before the bill went to the floor for a vote.
The final stimulus bill was 1,079 pages long. We know Barack Obama never read the bill.
Many members of Congress have admitted not one senator or congressman even read the bill before they voted for it!
The Democrats say they suspended normal procedures because the country so desperately needed to avoid what Barack Obama said was an economic “catastrophe.”
The bill apparently was so urgent that the Democrats even excluded Republican leaders from any involvement in negotiations on it.
When, in our republic, does Congress simply vote on a bill when its members have no idea what it says?
And, how could congressional leaders like Pelosi and Reid, as well as President Obama, present a monumental law but not allow even one day of scrutiny by Congress, its staffs or the public?

Big Lie No. 1: The Emergency
They told us that the country is in such a dire situation that it was an emergency.
That was Big Lie No. 1: The bill was not an emergency measure.
This was a ruse. They falsely claimed it was an emergency bill to cut off all debate.
The lie about the urgency was made clear when President Obama, rather than immediately signing the bill, went on vacation to celebrate Valentine's Day with his wife in Chicago. [Amazingly he had been in Washington less than a month before he took his first vacation!]
In fact, Obama took almost four days to sign this “urgent” bill.
Big Lie No. 2: Immediate Stimulus
And then there is Big Lie No. 2: The bill offered immediate help to our ailing economy.
The truth: The bill does not offer significant, immediate stimulus.
Most of the stimulus money won't even be spent this year, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office!
And the CBO has warned that the bill actually will hurt long-term economic growth.
Infrastructure programs, including items such as $8 billion for a high-speed train between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, will take a decade or longer to complete — if environmentalists ever let the project begin.
Republican traitor Arlen Specter, who backed the stimulus bill, got more than $6 billion in the bill for “medical research” — another lulu that has nothing to do with immediate economic stimulus.
Big Lie No. 3: Bipartisan Support
Then there is Big Lie No. 3: This bill was a bipartisan effort to save the economy.
It was anything but.
Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham said bluntly: “If this is going to be bipartisanship, the country's screwed."
Indeed, every Republican in the House voted against the bill, along with six courageous Democratic congressmen.
In the Senate, almost every Republican opposed the bill except three liberals: Sens. Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Arlen Specter.
Obama promised he would change the “old politics” of Washington. Instead, he is playing hardball partisan Democratic politics of the Chicago type.
He has used the weakening economy as his Reichstag fire event to get to pass an incredible amount of money so he could funnel huge amounts of pork and political payoffs to his Democratic cronies and allies.
And now, he is even talking about a second stimulus program! Why not? Congress just passed his first bill without even reading it! What a joke . . .

The Real Purpose: Abolish the GOP
I have no doubt what the real purpose of the stimulus bill was.
Simply, it was to lay the ground work of the remaking of America's political system into a one-party system.
Yes, a one-party socialist state that destroyed countries like Mexico.
We have seen what one-party rule has done to cities like Cleveland, Detroit, other cities — and corrupt Chicago.
The media will never tell you this, but that's the real agenda behind the Obama stimulus bill.
This is why so little of the stimulus is spent now, but spread out over several years.
This means Obama and Democrats will have hundreds of billions to disburse to their supporters, creating a new party cadre that will help them win re-election in 2010 and 2012.
Don't believe me?
Well, we all know the fraud perpetrated by groups like ACORN to register Democratic voters.
In the run-up to the 2009 election, millions of new “voters” were registered – and it clearly helped elect Obama – and gave the Democrats big majorities in the House and Senate.
Their game plan for 2008 worked. Now they want to use public funds — our tax dollars — to pay for more of their political activities.
For example, the final stimulus bill gives $3 billion to groups like ACORN.
Consider that, in 2008, Obama claimed that he raised $750 million for his campaign. Compared with that amount, ACORN's $3 billion is staggering.
No doubt, these billions will help ACORN in its political work of “community organizing” — a euphemism for Democratic activitism.

But it's not just ACORN who is getting “stimulus.”
The bulk of the Obama stimulus goes directly to the powerful government employee unions that helped get Obama elected and are the backbone, the shock troops, of the Democratic Party.
Amazingly, it's been estimated that half of the stimulus appropriation directly benefits government employee and service employees union that played key roles in Obama's election.
Second, the bill gives tens of billions to state and local governments to dole out to their cronies. This means there will be even less accountability by Congress.
And then there are massive payoffs to the special interests to the Democratic Party, with giveaways such as $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts, $300 million for new cars for government bureaucrats, $1.2 billion for “youth activities,” tens of billions for “green, environmental and energy programs” — they even include $3.7 billion to help “green” military bases and another $125 million to restore “abandoned mines.”
Shockingly, the bill creates 33 new government programs!
The stimulus money will give the Democrats the opportunity to become the dominant political party for the next generation.

Power Of Obamanomics

Using the power of Obamanomics, Chairman Zero could seize half of your property and distribute it to Henrietta Hughes without taxing you a penny. Here's how it works:
Say Group A works hard and has created $1 trillion in wealth out of nothing. Group B smokes crack and watches Oprah, and doesn't create any wealth at all. It receives food stamps, welfare, subsidized housing, et cetera, ad nauseam, but say Group B has no more wealth than it creates. If Chairman Zero wants to spread the wealth around so that both groups have the same amount, he doesn't have to take half a $trillion from Group A. All he needs to do is give Group B $1 trillion dollars that doesn't exist in the form of mortgage bailouts and stimulus packages. Since the money doesn't exist, the government will have to print it. Instead of $1 trillion dollars, there is now $2 trillion that is actually worth $1 trillion. By making money worth half as much, Obama has effectively seized half of Group A's wealth.
But there's no reason Group B should settle for only half of the wealth. After all, it suffers oppression. This is why Obama is passing out more money than exists in the entire economy.
Just because Obama doesn't need to tax us doesn't mean that he won't. Taxes will be going up, because higher taxes are a form of social justice. But there will be tax cuts for some — namely, those who don't pay any taxes. Some of their welfare handouts will be renamed "tax rebates."

Henrietta Real Estate Mogul

Henrietta Hughes is the personification of Obamunism in more ways than one. Not only is she a parasite who expects the government to give her whatever she wants for free, but she is an utter fraud:
During Obama's campaign to promote his stimulus package, he staged an event with a woman, Henrietta Hughes, who, as it turns out, appears to be anything but truly needy. Henrietta was given an audience with Obama to beg for a home. When aid was provided via the offer of free rent by an opportunistic politician, the liberal press spouted that Henrietta was actually given a free home and implied it came from Obama. The lie has propagated through the liberal media and, quite honestly, it nauseated us because it was so obviously staged and such a distorted lie. Well, as it turns out, the lie didn't end there. …
It appears that the desperate homeless woman owns real estate she shifted into the name of her son to avoid taxes and acquire government aid. Apparently, Henrietta is the teacher and Tom Daschle is just a student. Henrietta also apparently sold real estate at a significant profit in 2005. Henrietta has now become the poster child the Democrats wish to use to justify the massive expense of helping the chronically unemployed, not-so-needy and not-at-all-homeless.
To add insult to injury, when Chairman Zero steals $billions from us, our children, and our grandchildren to shower upon the Henrietta Hugheses of the world, we're asked to believe it's a "stimulus" that will help the economy.

Army Officer Sues To See Barry's Birth Certificate

Barry learns that people still want to see his birth certificate

No wonder Obama has plans to create his own Gestapo-style domestic army with a budget as large as the military. The imposition of socialism hasn't even required him to order soldiers to fire on fellow Americans yet, and already there is dissent in the ranks. As an Army officer, Scott Easterling is required to follow orders from a sitting president — so he insists on knowing whether Obama is qualified to hold the post.
Normally candidates are vetted by the media. But since Obama was effectively installed by the media, he managed to evade this unpleasantness, to such an extent that we still don't know for sure that he was born in this country, since he won't release a vault copy birth certificate. If he was born in Kenya as African relatives have claimed, he is not eligible to be President, per the Constitution. Easterling has taken the matter to court, so that he can know that when he faces terrorist bullets in Iraq, he's doing it on orders passed down from a legitimate authority.
Obama's version of "transparency" isn't inspiring the loyalty he will need to stay in the saddle when his suicidal economic policies lead to social unrest.

PINELLAS PARK - Randy Heine says he has surveillance video that shows a man and woman climbing over a fence. The couple heads right for a sign that reads "One Nation Under Obama." They paint over Obama and replace it with God.

Heine owns the sign and isn’t too happy about what he caught on tape.

"To me it’s all about racism," said Heine.

Heine, who owns Rockin’ Cards and Gifts in Pinellas Park, put up his Obama sign a day before the inauguration. He says it was his way of showing his support for the new president.

"I thought one nation under Obama would create unity. Although there are only a few people who would rather see our president fail," said Heine.

Since his sign went up it has been defaced, over and over. However, after every incident Heine has fixed the sign and proudly displayed it again.

Some people don’t agree with Heine on the message behind the words.

"It is very un-American because that’s our pledge of allegiance. I hope somebody messes with it again. And trust me, as Americans, we will," Kathy Konopinski told FOX 13.

Heine has a new battle to fight if he wants to keep the sign on display. Pinellas County code enforcement says the fence he put up around the sign is one foot too high. He’s also been slapped with another violation. County code allows only one freestanding sign per business. Because of that, officials say the sign must come down.

Randy plans to fight that decision. "The only way I would consider taking down the sign is if President Obama asked me to. Otherwise, it will stay."

Of course we disagree with Mr. Heine’s contention that painting God over Obama was “racist.”

But we do tend to agree that he should be able to put up such a sign on his own private property. Though this seems to be more about the local zoning laws, than his free speech.

Still, that Mr. Heine would even want to put up such a sign is troubling.

It reveals far too much about his “thinking,” and that of so many of Mr. Obama’s supporters.

They want a king – or a benevolent dictator.

They have no concept about what it means to live in a republic.

Barack Obama seems to be operating under the illusion that Americans are completely clueless.

I'm surprised the brilliant, Lincolnesque Obama doesn't understand that "you can fool some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time."

A week after signing an almost $800 billion stimulus bill that will make a huge deficit even bigger, President Barack Obama vowed to reverse the nation's fiscal course by the end of his term, saying, "We cannot and will not sustain deficits like these without end."

Presiding over an unusual White House conference on the government's financial outlook, Obama promised a more truthful budgeting process, saying it has been "an exercise in deception" in the past.

The bipartisan meeting, with Obama fielding questions from both liberal and conservative lawmakers, was another effort by the president to strike a collegial tone amid substantive differences between the parties.

It was also part of Obama's attempt to juggle two different goals early in his presidency: the short-term effort to jump-start the economy with massive spending and deficits, and the long-term goal to shrink those deficits and control government costs.

Obama argued Monday that there is no contradiction between the two, saying that without the spending surge in the stimulus, the economy would take longer to recover, tax revenues would go down "and long-term deficit and debt projections would be even higher."

Obama is a real piece of work.

He complains about the huge deficit that he inherited from the Bush administration while he himself is adding trillions of dollars to the deficit.

But he justifies this most massive spending spree in U.S. history with the lame argument that increasing the deficit is a good thing and necessary because that will keep it from growing higher.

Obama wants to calm Americans with his promise to dramatically cut the deficit, vowing fiscal responsibility. Some, the blind, will buy what he's selling. Some will see this for what it is -- crap.

Obama's Deficit Goals Count on Rosy Assumptions


President Obama's ambitious goal of cutting the federal deficit in half relies on a perfect -- some might say improbable -- convergence of factors: a recovered economy, a tax boost for the rich and success in easing foreign entanglements.

In calling for a deficit of about $530 billion in four years, Obama has established a marker by which to measure his first-term performance as president. The dollar figure could be his albatross or his badge of success.

"This will not be easy," Obama said Monday as he kicked off a fiscal summit at the White House. "It will require us to make difficult decisions and face challenges we've long neglected."

Obama's fiscal summit is a joke, coming on the heels of the passage of the bloated, porked up, so-called stimulus bill. Does anyone really believe that Obama is going to curb the spending binge?

The Democrats aren't going to grow the economy. They are growing the government. That's the plan.


...For him to succeed, the economy will have to meet current forecasts that it will begin to turn around gradually during the second half of the year. Even so, Obama might still have to seek billions more to help rescue the beleaguered financial sector.

Administration officials say Obama will also achieve budget reductions through lower spending on the war in Iraq. However, it is unclear how much of those savings he will then devote to Afghanistan, where he already has agreed to boost troop strength.

Further budget assistance would come from increases in taxes for wealthier Americans.

Administration officials have said Obama will meet his campaign pledge to end President George W. Bush's tax cuts for people who make more than $250,000. Those tax cuts are to expire at the end of 2010.

What a mess!

If Obama is truly looking at the long-term big picture, he wouldn't be discouraging economic growth by raising taxes and intruding more and more on the private sector.

Cutting the deficit while embarking on a Spend-o-rama of historic proportions?

I don't think so.

It's ridiculous for Obama to preach about fiscal restraint.

WASHINGTON -- Urging strict future restraint even as current spending soars, President Barack Obama pledged on Monday to dramatically slash the skyrocketing annual budget deficit as he started to dole out the record $787 billion economic stimulus package he signed last week.

"If we confront this crisis without also confronting the deficits that helped cause it, we risk sinking into another crisis down the road," the president warned, promising to cut the yearly deficit in half by the end of his four-year term. "We cannot simply spend as we please and defer the consequences."
